TROY -- A chef who stabbed a waiter after he chastized him for using rotten tomatoes will spend a year in jail after pleading guilty to the attack today.
City resident Mohammed K. Uddin, 43, a chef at the Shalimar restaurant at 407 Fulton St., admitted today in Rensselaer County Courthouse he stabbed waiter Minh Q. Vu, 18, in the stomach Jan. 4.
The victim told police he was only trying to make sure customers got fresh food.
``I saw that Mohammed was cooking with a rotten tomato and asked him to stop,'' Vu said in his statement. ``I then went out and told the manager that Mohammed was using rotten tomatoes because Mohammed didn't care what I told him.''
